Who I work with

What people bring
to the first session.

Some people arrive with one clear thing on their mind. Others arrive with several, all tangled together. Either is perfectly fine.

Anxiety

Worry humming away in the background

You manage everything well and still feel wired. Racing thoughts, a body on alert, and a mind that rehearses every outcome before it arrives.

Burnout

Running on empty for a long while

You used to enjoy all this. Now you get through the day and there is very little left over for anyone, least of all yourself.

Self esteem

A harsh voice in your own head

You meet your own mistakes with a harshness you would never turn on a friend. Together we can trace where that voice first learned to speak.

Couples

The same argument on repeat

Gottman informed sessions that work on communication, conflict and the friendship underneath the relationship.

Grief and change

Loss, and the life that follows it

Bereavement, divorce, illness, moving country, or the quiet close of a chapter you had expected to last much longer.

High achievers

Doing well, and sensing there is more

Therapy is not only for repair. Plenty of people who are already thriving use it for steadier focus and a pace that does not quietly cost them their health.

Recognise yourself in any of these?

Ask me anything you like before booking. There is no obligation either way.

Online sessions

Does online therapy
work as well?

For most common concerns, yes. Asked whether online therapy is effective, the research of the past decade answers fairly consistently: for anxiety, low mood and stress it produces results comparable to sitting in the same room, provided the therapist is properly trained and the relationship between you is strong. What online sessions ask of you is a private space and an hour you protect.

What changesOnline sessionsIn person sessions
Choice of therapist You choose on fit rather than on who happens to practise nearby. Limited to the therapists within travelling distance of you.
Privacy Nobody sees you arrive. A waiting room you may share with someone you know.
Continuity The work continues when you travel, move or change jobs. Moving usually means starting again with someone new.
What it asks of you A quiet room, headphones, and a connection that holds for the hour. Travel time either side of the session.

Culturally aware practice

Therapy that already
understands the context.

A large share of my work is with Asian clients, at home and across the diaspora, and with anyone whose family sits close to the centre of the problem. Decisions about study, marriage, money and career often belong to a wider group, and saying no to a parent can cost more than saying no to an employer.

Therapists who have not sat with that tend to reach for independence as the answer, which leaves people choosing between their wellbeing and the people they love. That is a false choice, and we do not start from it. You set the terms, and I follow your lead rather than a template.

My approach

Integrative, and shaped
around your needs.

No single method suits every person, or even every week. I bring together evidence based techniques and a good deal of warmth, so that what changes here stays changed once you close the laptop.

Talking therapy

Unhurried sessions where you can say anything at all, and I help you find the shape of what you are feeling.

Stress management

Small, practical things you can use between sessions to ease the daily load and look after your energy.

Breathwork

Simple breathing practices that settle the nervous system when thinking alone will not reach it.

Mindful somatic work

Hakomi based approaches that follow what the body holds, useful when emotion sits below language.

Family therapy

Sessions that gently look at the patterns a family repeats together, rather than treating one person as the problem.

Couples therapy

Gottman informed work on communication, conflict, trust, and the friendship underneath the relationship.

Nature, breath and the nervous system

Finding your footing
when something strong
is running inside.

How do you learn to stay calm when you feel something strong rising?

Calm is a skill rather than a personality trait, and it is taught through the body before the mind. Slow breathing, grounding through the senses, and contact with the natural world all lower the physical arousal that fuels panic and anger. Practised in ordinary moments, those skills become available in hard ones.

Most of us arrive wanting the feeling to stop. What tends to help more is learning to stay upright while it moves through, since a wave that is ridden passes far sooner than one that is fought. Nature does a surprising amount of this work on its own. Time among trees, near water, or simply outside in daylight lowers physical arousal, steadies attention, and restores a sense of proportion that a screen lit room erodes.

Breath

Settling the body first

Simple breathing practices that lower arousal in minutes, so thinking becomes possible again.

Grounding

Coming back to the room

Sensory techniques that interrupt a spiral before it gathers pace, usable anywhere and unnoticed by anyone.

Nature

Healing that draws on the outdoors

Daylight, green space and movement built into the week, because the nervous system responds to place as much as to insight.

You do not have to feel ready.

Most people write before they know what to say. A few lines is enough to start.

Two minute check in

Wondering whether
therapy is for you?

Six short questions about the last two weeks. You will get an honest reflection, which may well be that you do not need therapy at all, and nothing you enter ever leaves your browser.

This check in gives you language for what you are noticing. It does not diagnose anything, and only a proper assessment can do that.

Question 1 of 6

Over the last two weeks, how often has worry stayed with you through the day?

Payment

Payment comes through at least 48 hours ahead, and that is what holds your slot for you.

Currency

Charged in US dollars, at the same rate for every client wherever they are. Your bank converts at the day's rate.

Cancellations

Life happens. Let me know as early as you can and I will move your session. A last minute cancellation without a genuine reason is not refunded, because the time stays reserved for you.

Late cancellations

If a session is cancelled at the last minute without a genuine reason, I am not able to refund it, since the hour stays reserved and cannot go to anyone else.

Psychotherapist and Counsellor

I qualified as a psychotherapist and counsellor and I hold UK CPCAB Level 4 in therapeutic counselling, registration number 433TM4D-128-303701. I work with adults, couples and families, and I shape each session around the person in front of me rather than a fixed script.

My continuing professional development covers stress management, breathwork, Hakomi based mindful somatic approaches, family therapy, and couples therapy using Gottman methods. That range lets me bring the right tool to the right moment rather than stretching one method over every situation.

People often ask how someone works with clients on four continents without it feeling remote. The answer is unglamorous: the same hour, the same attention, and a real relationship built over weeks. Distance stops mattering surprisingly quickly.

Questions

A few things
people ask first.

Can I have therapy with a therapist in another country?

Yes, and it is far more common than people expect. Many clients choose it so they can work with someone who genuinely fits rather than whoever happens to practise nearby. If you are in acute crisis or need medication, you will also need a clinician licensed where you live, and I would tell you that gently rather than take the booking.

How do you handle different time zones?

Once you send the form or message me on WhatsApp, we settle on a time together in your own local time zone, so there is nothing for you to work out. Tell me which windows are realistic around your working day and I will fit around them where I can.

What technology do I need?

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera, somewhere private to sit, and a pair of headphones. Headphones matter more than most people expect, partly for privacy and partly because a voice close to your ear makes the hour feel much less remote.

Which languages do you work in?

Sessions run in English. I also work in Urdu for clients who share it, and those who speak both often find that certain feelings surface in one language and not the other, which becomes useful in itself.

What are your qualifications?

I am a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, holding UK CPCAB Level 4 in therapeutic counselling, registration number 433TM4D-128-303701. Alongside that I have trained in stress management, breathwork, Hakomi based mindful somatic approaches, family therapy and Gottman method couples work.

How do I know whether I need therapy or just a difficult patch?

Most difficult patches settle within a few weeks once the cause eases. The signal worth acting on is persistence: the same worry returning for a month or more, sleep that has not recovered, or relationships taking the strain. You do not need a crisis to qualify, and plenty of people come simply because they want to understand a pattern they keep repeating.

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

In practice the two overlap heavily and many practitioners, including me, are trained in both. Counselling tends to focus on a present difficulty over a shorter span. Psychotherapy usually goes further back and works with longer standing patterns. Which one you need is often clearer after a session or two than it is beforehand.

How long does each session last, and how often would we meet?

Usually weekly at the start and often fortnightly once things steady. Couples and family sessions run longer. Some people prefer a fixed block of six to eight sessions on one issue, and others keep an open ended arrangement. You choose, and you can change your mind as we go.

How will I know whether the therapy is working?

You will usually notice it outside the room first: sleeping better, reacting differently to something that used to derail you, or saying a thing you have swallowed for years. We review progress openly every few sessions rather than leaving it unspoken, and if it is not working I would rather hear that and change course.

What if I do not click with you?

Then say so, and I will help you find someone else. Research consistently finds that the relationship between client and therapist predicts the outcome more strongly than the method used, so a poor fit is worth acting on quickly rather than enduring politely.
